Lisbon and Spence Become Brothers Brian Spence show review - Lisbon, Campo Pequeno - 6th of
November 2010 The 6th of November 2010 will be always a day to remember for Portuguese hard rock lovers. After a long, long wait, the dream came true. In the stage of Campo Pequeno, there he was, one of the most mythical and mysterious characters of the hard rock scene: Brian Spence, live and in person! And a crowded audience was there, ready to vibrate with its idol! The first moment of euphoria came when the speaker announced "A Remember Minds tem o prazer de apresentar, pela primeira vez em Portugal, BRIAN SPENCE!!!". In English: "Remember Minds has the pleasure to announce, for the very first time in Portugal, Brian Spence!"
Brian appeared in a great shape. His voice, technical ability and enthusiasm caught the audience from the very beginning of the show and the interaction lasted until the end. Having started with two songs from Reputation album (Reputation and Come Back Home), Brian then traveled for the main songs from Brothers album (Brothers, Back Door, When It Hurts, Love is The Glory, I Will Call Your Family). The set list was just perfect and the audience was on fire But the highlight came when the crowd was left alone to sing the chorus of Will You Never Be My Friend and Hear it From the Heart. The joy of both Brian and the audience reached its higher point! The cover of Billy Idol´s classic Rebel Yell was also a moment of great excitement. A word for the Portuguese band Alcoolemia, that followed Brian in this amazing adventure. Without them, their talent and their passion, nothing would have been possible.
Brian, thank you so much for having chosen Portugal and Lisbon to come back to your solo shows. I hope this wasn't a one single gig and that you will give us the chance to see you performing again in a near future! So please don´t forget us! We will be always waiting for you, with open arms! And thank for you for the picture we took together! It meant so much to me Mark, it was great to meet you after more than ten years communicating by email and, more recently, through facebook. Thank you for the chance you gave me to meet Brian, a very special moment in my life that I will never forget! And Emanuel, you´re the best! In conclusion, the expectations were clearly overcome, Brian and his band were superb, the crowd was delighted and after this wonderful night of the 6th of November, Brian Spence and Portugal became "Brothers" for good! Cheers from a great, great fan, Miguel Serrano |
