"A mate asked me to have a go at mending his record player. Being handy with electrical things I agreed and went round to try and get it going", Fid Liddle of Bilbo Baggins said.

"I was fiddling around with some bare wires when I felt a terrible jolt whizz right through my body! I was thrown right across the room.

"I couldn't move for a minute with the shock. I honestly thought I was going to die.

"My stupid mate had only turned the record player on from the mains by mistake! That was the last time I tried mending anything with wires, I can tell you."
